Sarah is an ordinary teenager, sure about some things and unsure about others; certainly in love with a boy she studies with, Alex. When out of impulse she defends him in an arguement, they end up becoming close and turning into boyfriend and girlfriend. Thus she buys a fight with the boy's best friend, Karen, who nurtures amorous feelings for him and doesn't accept being replaced. As if dealing with her jealous rival's plots wasn't enough, Sarah and her new friends see themselves involved in the constant fear atmosphere that dominates the town.
A serial killer is brutally killing young girls and no clue on who is responsible is discovered. It is then that to Sarah's horror, weird events and macabre visions begin stalking her and she finds herself directly linked to scary things that escape her control. No one takes her seriously, and because of that she decides to start an investigation on her own behalf. What she concludes is that she can be the murderer's next victim and if she doesn't act quickly, everyone around her might also be in danger.
Fearing for the worst, she races against the clock while dealing with her own typical teenage problems and finds out that a pentagram is the key to revealing who is the killer. Amidst supernatural powers with which she has no chance, the fight for her survival is started. But realizing that someone closer than she thinks might be the very person who wants her dead is something she isn't ready to deal with.
Genre: FICTION / GeneralThe book sold well in print, in its original Brazilian Portuguese language (it's a series, volume 2 is to be released at the end of the year), and it's now about to be available in ebook, in English and Spanish. We only need a review for the English translation done by a NATIVE English speaker - someone who can compare the translation with the original Portuguese text (PT-BR) - when/if necessary - and make notes, ask questions to us and to the author, and even give suggestions to turn the book into a natural reading experience to the target language audience.
Caroline returned home and the smell of grass filled the air as if the turf had sprayed its essence. The young woman followed the public park's pathway, which she crossed nearly every day. It was already night and in the sky hovered a waning moon.
She studied journalism and wanted to become an editor for one of the most influential papers in town, The Margin's Gazette. Since their logo always did grab her attention, her lynx eyes noticed one of it's papers tossed about in a corner. She bent over, grabbed the dirt-stained paper and read:
"One of the events that shook our town the most completes today 7 years. Thierre Sallwonnen - eccentric gaulish writer P. J. Sallwonnen's grandson - died in an accident in the old steelworks factory in the August of 1998. The father commited suicide soon after and the mother passed away months after the incident. The younger brother, only witness to the tragedy, was in social justice's mercy for a while, until his records were lost. Nobody knows his whereabouts. Is he still alive? Do his memories and losses still haunt him, wherever he may be?"
Shivers ran down her spine as a centipede. She remembered that story. The town had never witnessed such sadness and it was the only thing it would talk about for months. Nervously she crumpled the piece of paper and threw it in a trash can, not realizing that in fact it had landed on the grass.
