CHAPTER ONE

MARRIAGE OF TWO VIRGINS

(THE WOMAN’S NARRATION)

As I wake up from my sleep, the first thing I do is to look at the clock. It is 4:30 am. The atmosphere is as serene and quiet as it was before I slept. I was disturbed throughout the night and I wondered if I could sleep at all as the night grew quieter and I still found myself on my bed unable to sleep. I am not in any trouble but thoughts kept running through my mind till about 12:30 am when I finally slept. It is normal for me to have been in that state of mind since today is a very special day in my life.

Today is Saturday the 1st of April 2017 and it is my wedding day. I reach for the alarm clock which lies beside me on the bed. It was to wake me up when it is 5:00 am. Once I am already awake it needs not ring. I put off the alarm on the clock and place the clock on a table beside the bed. The last thing I did yesterday was take a good look at my wedding dress in the wardrobe. It was about the seventh time I looked at the wedding gown yesterday. I had seen it many times before then anyway. It is the dress my grandmother used during her wedding. My mother also wore it during her wedding. Today it is my turn to also wear it to have my wedding. After taking a good look at the wedding dress I go back to my bed.
