Sample text:

The liver is one of the largest organs in the body and it performs a variety of metabolic and regulatory functions such as regulating protein metabolism, storing glucose, vitamins and minerals, regulating carbohydrate metabolism and detoxifying toxins.

Liver dysfunction may result from excess alcohol consumption, drug use (recreational and prescription), exposure to chemicals and environmental toxins or from eating a diet high in fats, processed foods and sugars.

Symptoms of poor liver function may include the following:

Difficulty digesting fatty foods, excessive perspiration, excess belly fat or pot belly, abdominal bloating, dark spots on skin/liver spots, frequent headaches, acne or red blotchy skin, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and triglycerides, coated tongue, dark circles under eyes, bad breath, bloating, fatigue, sluggish metabolism, unpleasant moods and inability to lose weight.

To help reduce the load on your liver, it is important to try and avoid as many toxins as possible.

Read labels on packaged food to avoid preservatives and other artificial ingredients.

Try to avoid toxins commonly found in household cleaning products, skin care products, shampoos and makeup and use natural products instead. Anything you apply to your skin is absorbed into your blood stream.

Eat organic food where ever possible to reduce consumption of toxic sprays.

Drink adequate filtered water and fresh juices to help flush toxins.  A great way to kick start your liver each day, is to drink a large glass of water with the juice of ½ a lemon upon rising each morning.

Some of the many herbs to help liver function include St Mary’s thistle, turmeric, globe artichoke and dandelion.
