Rituals of Release by Rachel S. Heslin

How to Make Room for Your New Life

Learn how to let go of what's been holding you down.

Rituals of release

You know the feeling: overwhelmed and maybe even trapped.
You want to change your life, but nothing seems to work.
Maybe it's time to let go of what's been holding you down.

Like a teacup already full to overflowing, we can't pursue new dreams or goals when we're drowning in old patterns and projects. In this book, you'll learn the required elements to create a ritual, four different types of release, and specific techniques to lovingly honor and let go of those things which don't support your new path, freeing you to spread your wings.

Rituals of Release is the first in a series of books designed to help you make peace with your past so that you can embrace your future with all your heart. Future books include Grieving the Lost Future: Reconciling What IS with What Should Have Been and Permission to Go On: The Power of Self-Forgiveness.

Sample text:

We can probably live perfectly normal, productive lives without ever thinking of what we’re doing in terms of “ritual.” However, trying to just “move on” without incorporating deliberate rituals to release what has been holding us back is not only less effective, but it misses an opportunity to deepen the richness of our experience. The world outside keeps telling us to take on more responsibilities, to be busier, to get more done. But all this focus on Doing can rob us of actually Living. We need to stop and reconnect with the deeper meaning of all these tasks and, more importantly, with the core of who we are.

Rituals have been a part of the human experience since time immemorial. Evidence was recently discovered that suggests that rituals were performed as long at 70,000 years ago. Whether prayers for rain or a successful hunt, rites of passage into adulthood, or saying goodbye to a loved one who has died, rituals have long performed the valuable work of connecting us with that which is larger than ourselves.

But it’s not just major events or life changes that are worthy of ritual. Treating even ordinary, day-to-day activities as rituals can help us become more aware of a sense of the sacred that can be part of our every moment. For this to be effective, it’s important to understand the power of focus and intention. How many times have you performed the same set of actions so often that they become rote? You end up mechanically going through the motions, your heart and mind wandering off in some random direction.

Not that there is anything wrong with wandering hearts and minds. I happen to be a big fan of daydreaming. However, to clear out the inner clutter that’s getting in the way of your new life, embracing the sacred art of ritual actively engages your heart and your mind, helping you identify, honor, and release whatever doesn’t currently support your path.

Very good and professional. I did have the translated manuscript reviewed by an independent copy editor, and Yana was very willing to incorporate suggested changes. Would definitely recommend.
