Retribution

This journey of retribution will leave you questioning everything you thought you knew about loyalty, honor, and the relentless pursuit of revenge in the name of justice.

When a CIA officer's wife is brutally murdered by Chinese intelligence officers, the lines between duty and revenge blur. Driven by a primal thirst for justice, Michelle Reagan and her team of covert operatives orchestrate an off-the-books mission to retaliate against the killer. As the CIA navigates a treacherous labyrinth of a Chinese espionage ring, they find their every move anticipated and their every tactic countered.

When the stakes escalate, the mission teeters on the brink of disaster. Will they avenge their fallen comrade, or will they become the next casualties in this deadly geopolitical power struggle?

EVOLVED PUBLISHING PRESENTS a riveting exploration of the dark side of the intelligence services, the human cost of duty, and the brutal toll that seeking revenge takes on both sides. "Retribution" exposes a world in which trust is a luxury few can afford, betrayal is a constant threat, and survival is far from guaranteed.

“He’s not dead yet,” CIA Special Activities Center officer Alex Ramirez said to his partner.

Michelle Reagan—codename Eden—squinted at her watch in the dimly lit apartment. The luminescent hands confirmed what she already knew—it was still before 6 a.m.

“Ugh,” Eden grumbled from the living room sofa for what Alex felt sure was the millionth time that morning. “Five more minutes to wait. I always hate waiting. The waiting is the worst part of this job.”

Alex scratched his scraggly black beard and shrugged. “That’s kinda what this job is—days and days of mind-numbing boredom, punctuated by seconds of sheer terror.”

“True,” Eden agreed. She stood up and stretched her five-foot-five-inch frame to its full height. She extended her arms over her head to work out a kink in her shoulder from the too-soft Italian mattress she’d been sleeping on for the past week. She held the muscle taut until it burned, then sat back down. “After a week of surveillance on this dude, yesterday’s breaking and entering was the fun part. But after we planted the bomb, well, now it’s all waiting, waiting, waiting. Bo-oring.”

The past week in Genoa, Italy’s sixth-largest city and one of the best food-wise according to Eden, had been a combination of aromatic lunches followed by afternoons and evenings of routine surveillances. Their target was a Syrian chemistry professor at the University of Genoa. During the day, he taught the next generation of corporate chemists the fundamentals of balancing chemical equations. At night, and the reason for the CIA’s interest, he taught the next generation of terrorists how to cook plastique in their own kitchens using ingredients they could purchase at most grocery and home-improvement stores.
