Chop the onion and thyme finely.

Slice tomatoes and red onion.

Preheat the oven to 400F. 

Place medium yam or Satsumaimo on baking sheet and cook for 1 hour until easily pierced with a fork. 

Let it cool, scoop out flesh from skin. Blend flesh in a food processor until smooth. 

Mix gently turkey, onions, mash, spices, salt, and pepper in a bowl. Form patties.
