The book explores spiritual growth as it impacts the three dimensions of the Christian life--1) character (love); 2) faith and 3) understanding (doctrine). It explains the process of growth and how we grow. It closes by explaining what hinders some Christians from becoming mature.

One of my greatest fear as a young Christian was the fear of failure. I was not worried about not doing well; I was afraid of doing well, then end up failing. What do I mean? When I reflected on the lives of some great men in the Bible like King Solomon, the wisest man who ever lived, who despite his brilliant beginnings, he ended up straying from the right path (at least for a while). Outside of the Bible, many did great things for the Lord; yet for some reason or another, they end up losing out on eternal life.
I asked myself, "if these men were so brilliant and had such privileges; yet they failed, what about me?" What will it take to have success in the Christian life? As I grew in understanding, I recognized, that, in the Christian walk, success is not necessarily great success, but consistent success. I realized that our focus should not be on our progress and abilities; our focus should be on Christ and what He can do for us. Therefore, I realized that complete and consistent dependence on God is our only hope of success in this walk. I discovered that our biggest problem is not that we do not know the secret to success; we neglect to keep doing what is required.
In this book, I present a formula for maintaining a consistent connection with Jesus—Christian Maturity. Christian Maturity is about knowing how to keep going despite the challenges and distractions in the way.
