Minimalism: best strategies and ideas to help you declutter and simplify your life

Many people have a misguided view of real world minimalism. It doesn't have to be blank walls, empty rooms and no possessions. It doesn't have to be living out of a backpack traveling across the world with no real home. It doesn't have to be the life of a hermit

Minimalism also includes positive thoughts, thinking outside the box and learning to be happy with what we currently have. While this may sound unrealistic for many people, I assure you, having less physical things in your life also means we can have more in the end.

We like to think our jobs are secure and that nothing can affect the positions we have. However, the economy changes. A career that was stable might disappear in an instant. A mortgage and bills that were affordable can become too complicated. The stress this creates in our lives is not fun.

Do not wait longer to discover YOUR KEY to a new and better life.

Life is full of amazing memories that are both positive and negative. It is only natural to want to hold onto some of those fond memories with a keepsake or some type of memorabilia. Theme parks and tourist attractions are littered with gift shops that prey on that exact tendency to want to have something that will help activate your loving memories. And to a certain degree it is natural. But just like most problems, obsessing too much over something is when it becomes an issue.

And actually, believe it or not, hoarding disorder, also known as compulsive hoarding is an actual ailment seen by some psychiatrists as a behavioral condition. It can range from holding onto worn down shoes that no longer serve any practical purpose, but have a sentimental value, to collecting everything including the food wrappers of each and every item you purchase. However, this disorder has only been recognized and categorized as such in the recent past. Before then, people who suffered from this ailment were often dismissed as ‘pack rats’. Regardless of where you fall on the spectrum, you can make the difficult but important choice to literally clean up your life and focus on the future rather than collect the past.

But first it is a good idea to know what you are dealing with. Unfortunately, psychologists do not fully understand this disorder as of yet. Actually, at one point it was even confused as a symptom of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) until it was recognized a separate condition. However, even though compulsive hoarding is identified as a different ailment, it tends to often occur in people who also suffer from other disorders such as OCD, another form of anxiety, or depression.
