As mentioned earlier, formal mindfulness entails taking some time daily to practice mindfulness consciously. This kind of mindfulness helps to increase your concentration and to live in the moment. It helps you discover that the secret of well-being is learning to live in the moment. Think of it as a kind of ‘holiday’ or ‘break’ from your daily life where you have to think about many things and do many things at a time.

When you practice formal mindfulness, you are able to take a break (even if it is for a few minutes) from your constantly wandering mind to enjoy the present moment and this is one of the keys to well-being. Further, the more you practice mindfulness meditation, the easier it becomes to be mindful in your daily activities and thus practicing informal mindfulness becomes much easier and mindfulness becomes a part of you.
