Meditation: guided practice for reclaiming your body and your life

This set of book was originally compiled in the form of private journals. Marcus Aurelius used these notes as personal guides to live by and to better himself as a ruler. He compiled these journals during his time as emperor, and while they were not intended for public consumption, there are valuable lessons to be gleaned from his wisdom.

It also includes three parables and one short story; the story offers a delightful insight into the mysterious exchange which takes place between a master and a disciple.

If you find it difficult to fall asleep at night because you can seem to turn off the endless negative mind chatter, if you're sick of always stressed out, on edge and constantly overwhelmed and you need help dealing with anxiety and all the negative emotions which don't let you enjoy life to your full potential, then this guide is for you.

If you are ready to take action and change your life for the better, this book will definitely guide you in the right direction!

Sample text:

The Buddhist path considers virtuous objects of meditation – anything that can cause our mind to become more calm and peaceful can be a virtuous object. This is the essence of objects in meditation. There are many objects which are neutral and cause us no response and thus cannot be an object of meditation – object that can will result in a positive or negative effect on our minds.

By relying on the spiritual guide that is Buddhism, we are practicing Dharma. Through these blessings we generate and feed our faith, our belief in the practice of meditation. We should follow the guidelines to reinforce this belief which, in turn, reinforces the results of meditation. We need to learn to appreciate our lives and realise the opportunities that present themselves to us in the practice of Dharma. To do so will inhibit us from engaging in meaningless thoughts and limiting our fulfilment in life. To do so leads to happiness. True happiness.

We should meditate on love for one another. On compassion and care for those around us, and those not. Our thoughts should be at one with all living beings – our aim is to eradicate the ignorance which shadows us all. With an honest heart, we can all achieve peace and spread it throughout modern society. Become a Buddha.

As we continue to meditate, our perception clears – the dirt on the glass washes away and all becomes clear.
