One of the main problems with many people, is their inability to turn off their mind.  The mind is usually racing at the speed of light, and many times, people have a bad habit of being unable to turn it off. It’s a problem that many seem to face, but they don’t know how to cope with it.  They will try to take up meditating, but are unable to do so because of the fact that they are not able to turn off their mind.

On the contrary, they’re doing it wrong.  They should mediate in order to turn off their mind.  That’s how you’re supposed to do it, and if you’re having trouble, just keep on going.  When you start out, you might not be able to clear up all of your thoughts out of your mind, but you’ll be able to at least get a bit out of there.  If you’re still having that issue of your mind racing, don’t worry about it.  Remember, meditation is a practice, and with a practice, you’re going to be working at it in order to become better at it than you were before.  Mediation isn’t something that you get right on the first try.  If that were the case, you would just do it a few times and then be done with it.  With meditation, you’ll be able to keep on going and keep on trying to get better at clearing your mind.

You might notice that your mind is racing and going off into weird tangents. If that happens, just bring it back and put your attention back on your breathing, the sounds around you, and even the sensations that you feel.
