Sample text:

“Fourteen years ago, where would you have been,” Conan asked.  “Let’s start with the easy questions.  Where were you fourteen years ago this fall?”

Karyn fought frantically for an instant and the she froze, totally focused on Conan for the first time rather than herself.  She gulped a big breath of air.  “School,” she gasped.  “You have the wrong person.”  She laughed hysterically. “I was just a kid.”

“That’s right.  School, your sophomore year, if I’m correct and I’m sure I am.”  Conan nodded and smiled.  “And what school would that be?”

“No!  No,” Karyn exclaimed.  “What are you doing to me?  Why am I here?  I haven’t done anything wrong.”

“No, no,” Conan chided.  “That’s not the answer I was looking for.”  He stood up and walked to a side table, selected an object and came back.  He sliced the left side strap off her fabulous little black dress with a shining scalpel.

Karyn screamed.  Screaming again until she was hoarse.

Conan just waited until the room quieted. “Let’s try this again,” he said.  “What school were you attending fourteen years ago this fall.”

Karyn sobbed, gasping for breath between her tears.  “Apple City,” she whispered in a hoarse and cracked voice.  “I lived in Apple City and went to Apple City High.”  Her sore voice broke at the end and she hiccuped.  “Apple City,” she whispered weakly.

“Very good,” Conan said.  He sliced the right side strap of her fancy little black dress.
