The Catalan novel Els nens de l'Elisa [Elisa's Children] was third among the finalists for the 24th Ramon Llull Prize for Catalan Literature and it was published in paperback by Editorial Omicron in 2006.

Review:

"Elisa is a character completely apart from other topics. Núria Añó paints the anti-heroine avoiding Manichaeism, and shows the most subtle facet as the most sordid. [...] A difficult novel, very demanding for the reader, which will delight the lovers of psychological narrative."-review in La Mañana newspaper.

Abstract:

Elisa is a teacher undoubtedly talented and devoted to her job, able to turn down many suitors in her thirties, even when she feels a special attraction to teenagers. She's in control of her life. Until the plot begins to take a turn for the worst for her. Elisa's found a thirteen-year-old boy with an alarming family life, willing to walk for seven miles with the pretense of looking for his lost gloves.

In a place where the winter consumes spring and society turns calculating and selfish, a boy's narrating voice recalls a pivotal point that marked him for life. There only seem to be two things in his mind: first of all, to never end up like his parents did, and second, meeting Elisa at last.

Sales info:

Els nens de l'Elisa was trade-published and it sold many copies in its edition. It was my first novel in Catalan language, but it was also finalist for the Ramon Llull Prize for fiction and this gave me the opportunity to give interviews in the media and also received excellent reviews in journals and magazines.

Sample text:

Incluso a mí me asusta. Y no quiero poseer dicha habilidad. No quiero.
