Sample text:

As I attempt to sneak into Miss Mason’s homeroom classroom seven minutes late, I laugh to myself. I can’t believe this is how I’m beginning the first day of my sophomore year. I don’t regret being late though. Things with Joel got a little spicy as we were on our way to school.

Joel Jackson, a senior here at KHS, has been my boyfriend for almost a year now. We met last year when I was at cheer practice. I was doing my thing on the sidelines of the football field while he was practicing with the football team. I noticed him checking me out, and after practice he chased me down as I was about to head out with my girls. Little did I know, he was the star wide receiver of the KHS Panthers. He’s also best friends with Micah, Love and Truth’s older brother, so I figured he must be a good guy.

Our relationship hasn’t been all peaches and cream though. A lot of people were saying mean things about me because I was a freshman dating an upperclassman. If I had a dollar for every time someone called me “loose” or a “fast lil girl”, I’d be a billionaire by now. Everyone was trying to convince me that Joel was just using me for sex, including my dad, who is a deacon at Trinity Christian Center.

It was so stressful to hear so many negative things like that about the guy I loved, and I had to quickly grow some tough skin. Despite the rumors, I knew the truth and didn’t let that change the way I felt about my boyfriend. Joel was nothing like the person everyone was trying to make him out to be. Now, we are the power couple of KHS, and everyone loves us. Well, almost everyone.
