Would you like your own website? For most people, the answer is yes. After all, the possibilities are endless. You may have ideas for using a website to sell products or promote something. Maybe you want one for fun or to blog about life and the world in general. In my opinion, everyone should have a website and/or a blog. The reason is because websites and blogs connect you with the rest of the world, and that’s a powerful thing. They give you an outlet for expressing yourself in text, photos, audio and video, plus you can link the website to everything you want. These days we’re becoming a global village. Social media sites like Facebook and YouTube are examples of that. Having your own website and blog adds tremendously to your internet presence in the global village.

Several years ago I didn't know how easy it was to make my own website or that it could be done for free. I was still an internet novice, a newbie, and just didn't realize how simple and affordable it could be. As a result it seemed the only way to accomplish anything online for my business ideas was to hire someone else to do it.

So I paid professional designers to create webpages promoting my businesses, which quickly became frustrating and expensive. I spent thousands of dollars on four different professionals to build four different sites: three websites and one blog. In each case they did their best to interpret my concepts and come up with sites that matched. Unfortunately, their work did little to advance my career.

They also charged between $45 and $120 per hour. Not cheap. No wonder it ate up my savings. Then there were lengthy delays for any updates. Whenever I wanted anything done it typically took a week to accomplish.

Finally the discovery came; I could have built these things for free by myself. It wasn't rocket science.
