Exchange Operation by Norberta Silva

The police operations against the Pindoretama's corrupts continue and the romance of Roberto and Nina is threatened.

Exchange operation

Prologue

National Attorney General Roberto Nascimento and his beloved Nina Moreira apparently formed a couple living in a period of peace. Even though they lived in different cities, they saw each other frequently. His second term was less tumultuous than the first, during which the General Cleaning Operation in Pindoretama was set off. Many people were already serving their sentence, or at least had been arrested or responding to various lawsuits. It seemed that everything was under relative control.

Just looked. This was not, however, their reality. One stroke of carelessness, and everything could come down. There were a lot of people wanting revenge on them. His enemies would not leave him alone. They knew that. Even an attempted murder the prosecutor had already suffered. So any slip could be fatal. Not only in the professional field, but also in the personal life.

Nina could bear much because of their love. Even to a woman of her own ideas, there were limits he knew she should not go through. Would he be able to figure it out and stop when it is necessary? This was an issue that would become central to their lives.

Sample text:

Roberto participated in the judgments of the Supreme Court of Justice as a member of the Public Ministry. These sessions were far from routine as they used to be before to the General Cleaning. The nation’s eyes were on Citizen TV. The trials were followed by the population with great interest. People watch it if each of them was a novel chapter, but rather than fiction, they were real life. For the Attorney General, the sessions had a taste for victory, because getting there had been the fruit of his work and of many people who believed he could change the country.

Pindoretama is a relatively new country, with a history of coups d’état, and small intervals of democracy. The political class has always made deals with the economic and financial elite to maintain privileges and bargaining. In general, the rulers acted as servants of large private corporations, with their backs to the needs of the people. It had always been this way, and there was nothing that could change that situation, it was said. It was what the people called an “oligarchic pact” between part of the political class, part of the businessmen and part of the state bureaucracy.

Until Operation Big Suitcase began to change the course of this story. It was the first Criminal Action of the Supreme Court to have as important political defendants of various parties. When everyone thought they had seen the worst side of politics, the police operations started and brought the big businessmen and influential politicians in jail.
