Sample text:

Owning a puppy is a great responsibility, and if done correctly, it can also be a very rewarding experience. Many new dog owners will have to overcome many challenges, therefore, it is important to understand your puppy and how it reacts to its new environment. The first things you need to focus on when you bring a new puppy home is to teach it obedience, rules, and boundaries. In order to achieve this, your puppy needs to see you as the pack leader who it obeys and respects. However, because respect is not quickly earned and needs a foundation of trust, it is imperative you first gain your pup’s trust prior to teaching him obedience training. To a dog, strong leadership equals trust, and in turn, weak energy equals a feeling of anxiety in a dog. Counteractive to what we think, when we yell, shout, show aggression, frustration or resentment, it is only felt as weakness to a dog, and not strength. A puppy will naturally move away from this kind of energy, and cause it to lack trust in its owner.

When gaining your dog’s trust, you must first be calm. A puppy can be very cute, but approaching it with excited energy can trigger fear or may cause it to want to  move away from you. It can also make a puppy excited and cause jumping and  other unwanted behavior. Give your puppy the space it needs, be mindful of its body language. Never stand in front of your puppy, try to approach it from a lower position, like on your knees or from the side. Let your puppy come to you.
