The best way to start your puppy with obedience training is to visit a training school. Not only will puppy become well versed in the required commands and actions, but you will also learn what is required from both of you. If you have never obedience trained a dog before it is unlikely you will instantly and automatically know what to do. Another advantage of training school is the social aspect. Meeting other dogs and other people at an early age can prevent your puppy from becoming frightened and possibly aggressive in the future.

Puppies can be very difficult to train if you are unsure of the proper steps. This book will provide easy to follow steps for training any puppy. My puppy by the name of ‘poppy’ was not obedient when we got her. I and my wife had a lot of problems in training her. Sample text:

I really want to bring up a fascinating study conducted recently whereby two dogs were trained to walk into and stay completely still inside a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scanner. The two dogs were Callie, a 2-year-old southern squirrel-hunting dog and McKenzie, a 3-year-old border collie.

Beforehand the dogs were trained to respond to hand signals, with the left hand pointing down signaling the dog would receive a hot-dog treat and the other gesture (both hands pointing toward each other horizontally) meaning no treat.

So once in the MRI machine when the dogs saw the 'treat' signal, the caudate region of the brain showed activity, a region associated with rewards in humans. That same area didn't show up when dogs saw the 'no-treat' signal.

So this is actually rather incredible. We have real scientific evidence of dog's reacting to humans actions, a direct link to their brain when we present them with a sign and it producing a positive effect.
