Sample text:

Buddhism is based on the life and teachings of Siddhārtha Gautama, born in the Northeastern Indian continent in the fifth century B.C. Early texts suggest that his father held a high position and governed a small republic, thus he was considered a prince or a successor to his father. Upon his birth, an astrologer visited Siddhārtha’s father and told him that his son will either be a rich leader/king, or a poor holy man. Depending on how Siddhārtha sees the world outside the confinement of their rich estate, he might renounce everything that he has: leadership, lands and riches to become a holy man.

Siddhārtha’s father, Suddhodana, panicked at the prophesy. He would like his son to be his successor and rule their lands. He wanted Siddhārtha to continue his lineage. To prevent him from having a different path in life, he did everything he could to keep the young Siddhārtha within their palace walls.

Fate had it that Siddhārtha see the world outside their comfortable palace. Despite the efforts of his father, Siddhārtha managed to venture beyond the walls of their estate and off to see the lives of ordinary people. By the time he reached 29, Siddhārtha already had a series of encounters with common people: an old person, a sick person, a corpse and lastly, an ascetic, holy man.
