My name is Nadine and I come from a small village in Bavaria, Germany, just at the border to Austria. I am a young translator who has a Bachelor's and a Master's Degree in Translation Studies and just loves what she's doing. I spent those five years of studying in Innsbruck, the capital of Tyrol in Austria, where I had classes in medical, technical, cultural and media translation - and literature of course. Even though most of the Master's program was centred on specialised translations, I took every literature class I could get and even managed to write my Master's thesis about a translation problem which manly occurs in literature, namely the problem of (not) translating names and titles in fantasy literature using the example of "A Game of Thrones".
Alongside my studies I've worked as a tour guide at Linderhof Palace in Bavaria in my three languages German, English and French. Apart from that I spent a month each year for the last six years in Northern Ireland to work in a private hostel, to improve my language skills and to live my love for that small and special country. When I'm not translating or somewhere outdoors doing sports, I usually get me a good book or write fantasy stories. So naturally that's one of my favourite genres, however, I also love historical novels and thrillers. My fields of interest thus also have a broad range, from history in general, Roman and medieval times in particular, to the military, to mythology... and to Ireland of course. But I also love to get into new fields which I've never entered before to explore and expand my knowledge about the world. That's why I love translation - you never know what's going to be your next project. And so I'm always ready and looking for something new.
